Assesses, diagnoses and treats oral health conditions and dental pathology through the provision of therapeutic, educational and preventive dental hygiene procedures. Performs health promotion activities and provides dental health education and/or clinical services. Collects, analyzes and interprets data to assess the oral health status of targeted individuals or populations. Monitors, assesses and evaluates the need for oral/dental health programs for individual clients, targeted populations and/or communities. Develops and evaluates resource material for education purposes. Provides public education regarding oral health. Educates clients and caregivers regarding preventive oral health. Develops and provides in-service and training sessions. Conducts oral health assessments to detect oral pathology for the attention of the dentist. Provides dental screening and preventive dental services to schools. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of oral health programs. Provides leadership in the planning and implementation of oral health services for public/population health. Promote clinical services through public health programs and community agencies. Precepts Registered Dental Hygiene students. Provides education to other health care providers. Provides orientation and mentorship to new staff and volunteers. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position is part of Primary Care Alberta. As a Dental Hygienist, you will provide clinical oral health care services, health promotion and preventive educational programs. You will examine and chart oral conditions, assess periodontal status, analyzes and interpret client's/patient's condition to develop a client/patient centered diagnosis/assessment and treatment plan. You will provide public education regarding oral health. You will develop and provide in-service and training sessions; dental screening and preventive dental services to schools and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of oral health programs.

Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Dental Hygienists (ACDH).

May require special authorization from the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta (CRDHA) to perform restricted activities as specific in the Regulations. Computer skills and experience with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is an asset. Driver's license and ability to drive in winter conditions.

Experience using Connect Care or other electronic medical record system. Experience providing preventative oral health services to children aged 12-35 months. Experience providing care in rural and remote communities, including Indigenous communities.
