This position can be filled anywhere within the province of Alberta Who We Are: Health Shared Services (HSS) launched on Dec. 1, 2025, and provides vital services to clinical and non-clinical teams across Alberta’s healthcare system. We share a common purpose with the teams we serve to deliver timely, high-quality healthcare to patients and families across the province. We work alongside provincial healthcare agencies and corporations, providing expertise, systems and resources to support the entire healthcare system. You’re self-driven, motivated, and know how to find the necessary information using the tools and resources, and people available. You’re someone who likes to know what’s going on-and you tend to pay attention to what’s happening on social media and in the news. You also have a creative side-you enjoy taking stories and important information and shaping them into engaging posts for different platforms. Working in a team environment, you’ll rigorously monitor social media for conversations about healthcare in Alberta, flag issues, and respond to questions and comments from staff, physicians, volunteers and the public. Reporting to the Director, Social Media & Story Hub, the Social Media Coordinator will work well under pressure, multi-task and deliver high-quality social content in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities: Proactively monitoring all social media channels for healthcare related issues Develop and manage the social content calendar and social campaigns. Create Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports with analytics for each channel and recommendations for improvement based on the stats. Identify social media trends and recommend how these trends can be implemented within the healthcare social media environment. Identify and develop visual storytelling opportunities that engage audiences across all platforms. Work with confidential information in a fast-paced and often sensitive environment. Create engaging content for the various healthcare social media platforms.
Degree/diploma in Communications, Social Media, Journalism, Marketing or related field. 1 or more years of experience working in social media, marketing, journalism or related field. Experience with Hootsuite/Sprout Social, Facebook Insights, X Analytics and Facebook Ad Manager. Proficiency in design programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Canva, and other content creation software packages. Proven ability to act quickly and decisively while also understanding the challenges of securing approvals. Sound judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-environment - ready to brainstorm and work on new projects and concepts. Excellence in writing and editing with a keen understanding of where and when to use artificial intelligence. Superior organizational skills. Ability to occasionally work outside of regular office hours.
