Description
Reporting to the Director, the Coordinator II position is the FM&E department’s single point of coordination for all Construction and project-related activities for Alberta Infrastructure, Capital Management, as well as internal FME Projects, preventive and demand maintenance shutdowns and service interruptions within the RAH/GRH/Gene Zwozdesky campus. This position will develop the scope of work tasks and responsibilities for contracted and in-house work with a variety of stakeholders. Working with Consultants, Clinical Leads, FM&E leadership, and frontline staff, the position’s role includes but is not limited to: coordination and scheduling of meetings, system isolations, work permits, drawing reviews, as well as ensuring all appropriate permits and approvals have been obtained. The position is also responsible for preparing, distributing and archiving all related paperwork and correspondence. In addition, the Coordinator keeps a database of all project activities for AHS reference. The primary location will be the Royal Alexandra Hospital, but if an event unfolds, this person may be asked to work at other sites within the zone. Potential multi-site duties as directed by the FM&E Director or Manager.
As a Coordinator II, you will require advanced or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex projects, procedures, practices or initiatives within a department, program or business unit.
Completion of post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent.
Post-secondary courses related to a Construction or Trade field (Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical). WHMIS training Registration Requirements. Supervision experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, cooperative, and capable of working independently. Must be physically capable to carry out the duties of this position (i.e. walking for long periods, climbing ladders, lifting and moving heavy material or equipment and responding quickly to building emergencies). Must have critical thinking skills and be able to diffuse and control problematic situations at a moment’s notice. Must be able to work in a hospital environment and work around traumatic events that occur in a hospital setting. Must be able to maintain composure and make decisions in emergencies. Must be able to read blueprints and locate operational data from operating/maintenance manuals.
Knowledge of commercial/institutional construction methods and construction management and contract administration. Experience with project scope creation and the process would be an asset. Past/present proven experience with process-driven and complex problem-solving tasks.
