As a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Aspire Homes, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the care and recovery journey of individuals with complex needs. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will provide an advanced level of nursing practice that maximizes the application of in-depth nursing theory, knowledge and skills in meeting the complex health care needs of individuals, families and communities. You will function as a nursing practice leader, consultant, expert practitioner, educator and researcher within a clinical specialty area. You will balance various roles depending upon the needs of the patient population and the healthcare team, collaborating on the provision of holistic and comprehensive care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Master's degree in Nursing. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Aspire Homes provides clinical leadership and support to an interdisciplinary team serving clients with co-occurring developmental disabilities, mental health and addictions, and forensic involvement in a secure residential setting. The CNS coordinates therapeutic programming, ensuring residents are supported in achieving recovery goals through evidence-based practices. Key responsibilities include supervising and mentoring staff, contributing to performance evaluations, and supporting professional development. The CNS also plays a vital role in policy and procedure development, quality improvement, and risk management. They collaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance service delivery and address gaps in clinical practice. Clinical support involves guiding both regulated and unregulated staff through case consultations, documentation review, and direct intervention when needed. This may include mental health support, group therapy, or nursing care. The CNS also assists with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing evaluation of team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and excellence in care. Minimum 5 years of experience in mental health, addictions, developmental disabilities, or forensic nursing.

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a healthcare or residential setting. Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ASD, FASD, ID), and addiction treatment. Experience with therapeutic programming and clinical documentation. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and team collaboration skills.
