Description
The Connect Care Willow Inpatient Clinical Informatician (CI) position reports to and is accountable the Manager, Pharmacy IT: Willow Application Team. This position will work with the Willow Inpatient/Ambulatory/Inventory teams in supporting operational processes and pharmacy business operations while focusing on Pharmacy Connect Warehouse Management System (WMS). As a Willow Clinical Informatician, you will: build and maintain Willow application(s) as well as test upgrades/fixes; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to complete requests and projects to resolve issues and for ongoing maintenance of the system; create/maintain support documentation; ensure effective and accurate pharmacy information management to be able to address policy and recommended practices in the maintenance of Connect Care; liaise with site operations; establish and maintain effective and efficient operations in assigned areas; stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in pharmacy and pharmacy related technologies; rotation for On Call support after regular business hours; participate in special projects and programs as assigned; and maintain/create statistics and prepare reports as required. There is flexibility as to the location of this position is within the Province of Alberta. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate may discuss location options with the hiring manager. Please note that there are six (6) available positions available.
As a Clinical Informatician, you will lead or participate in the customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems. You will develop and deploy information and systems solutions, drawing on expert clinical experience, and knowledge from their health discipline. Working in the field of Clinical Health Informatics will require you to incorporate the application of information technology to facilitate the creation and use of health related data, informatics aspects of safe, efficient, and effective health services for all Canadians.
Completion of bachelor's degree in a health related field. Active registration with the applicable professional association or college.
Must be a Pharmacy Technician, registered within the Province of Alberta. Ability to travel to the United States (when permitted). Ability to travel within Alberta. Must pass EPIC Aptitude (Sphinx) test. Must obtain Epic Accreditation or Proficiency in Willow Inpatient within 3 months of hire date. Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated time management skills including ability to switch priorities and multitask is required. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Demonstrated computer and word processing skills. Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, cooperative, able to demonstrate effective service attitude, self-motivated.
AHS Inpatient Pharmacy experience. Prior hospital experience with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to computer order entry, IV admixture and unit dose drug distribution. Experience with Windows-based computer applications. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization is preferred. Experience and education in EPIC configuration. Preference will be given to those with EPIC Willow certification/proficiency/accreditation.
