Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician

Ponoka is a vibrant and growing community in Central Alberta, offering a welcoming small‑town atmosphere with strong healthcare partnerships and an expanding surgical program. We are seeking Casual Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians (MDRT/MDR) to join our supportive and dedicated team. This role comes at an exciting time as the site continues to grow. The facility currently provides endoscopy procedures and is expanding to include cataract surgery. You will be part of a small, collaborative, and supportive team environment with excellent opportunities for skill development. In this role, you will clean, disinfect, assemble, package, and sterilize medical and surgical instruments. You will ensure accuracy and adherence to medical device reprocessing standards, protocols, and safety practices. Responsibilities also include supporting operating room and endoscopy reprocessing as required and contributing to a respectful, team‑oriented workplace.

As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.
