With a new regional hospital, we are excited to be expanding services within urology, orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, and gynecology, with the addition of ophthalmology and oncoplastics to support Grande Prairie Cancer Centre. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.
Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.
Experience with the application of professional knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills, and critical thinking application in a professional setting. Ability to handle heavy or awkward items (lifting, transferring, carrying), and withstand considerable walking or standing. Adherence to policy and practice standards and Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics. Ability to be physically confined to an area due to job demands. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient information and health records. Ability to identify own strengths and weaknesses and showing initiative for improvement. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and accept change.
Preference will be given to candidates with recent MDR experience, Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years experience in a hospital setting MDR.
