As a member of the Clinical Engineering North Zone team, the Biomedical Equipment Technician II is responsible for the management of technology including technical support, repairs and preventative maintenance for complex medical equipment and systems to ensure patient and staff safety and reliability. Key responsibilities are: Prioritization, scheduling, and management of assigned workload. Ensures clinical and non-clinical equipment meets pertinent safety, performance and technical standards and that is performing to technical and clinical specifications; prepares appropriate documentation. Operation of the Clinical Engineering computerized maintenance management system (CMMS/eFacilities), utilizing computer skills for inputting and retrieval of equipment history, and generation of computerized work orders and reports. Develops and maintains familiarity with the patient care programs of supported areas and professional competence with respect to the equipment in these areas by reading relevant literature and manuals, and by attending meetings and educational/ training sessions. Maintains liaison with medical and clinical staff, manufacturers and suppliers. Reviews hazard reports, recalls notices and medical device alerts; assesses the impact on supported areas and advises Clinical Engineering management on appropriate corrective action. Zone travel and On-Call duties as required. Participates in department safety and Work Health and Safety activities. Other related duties as required. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Biomedical Equipment Technologist (BMET) II, you will provide assurance testing, maintenance and repair of complex medical, biomedical and electronic devices or systems.

Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).
