The Seniors Central Home Care team is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) to join our In Home Restorative Care (IHRC) program. Reporting to the Care Manager, the AHN plays a vital in-scope leadership role supporting the day‑to‑day functioning of multidisciplinary teams and ensuring high‑quality, client‑centered care. This position is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a dynamic environment, excels in clinical coordination, and is passionate about supporting both clients and frontline staff.

As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Minimum five years of recent nursing experience, including at least five years in Home Care and/or a relevant clinical setting, is required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills. Demonstrated clinical assessment skills. Demonstrates ability to work with electronic methods of communication including electronic health record(s), MS Office Suite, TEAMS, computer and multi-line telephone/fax.

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice specifically within the Home Care community sector will be considered.
