Reporting to the Manger for Family and Urgent Care Clinics at the East Edmonton Health Centre, as the Assistant Head Nurse - Family and Urgent Care Clinics, you will service a marginalized population from the geographical area of the clinic location Working with this patient demographic requires an interest in population base health initiatives to provide exceptional care. You will demonstrate your expertise within the interdisciplinary team to support an integrated and holistic approach to client care, health promotion and maintenance, while utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills across the life span and continuum of care. The position resides within the Primary Care and Chronic Disease Management department which is part of the broader Community Health Services Portfolio. In the event of a public emergency, staff from this program will be deployed as required. This position is part of Primary Care Alberta. As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Demonstrated experience in clinical nursing practice with a minimum of 2 years of Urgent Care or Emergency nursing and 2 years in Primary Health Care field. Demonstrated strong leadership, facilitation, coaching, people management, charge management, as well as quality and operational improvement of 5 years. Previous administrative, leadership roles or Foundational Leadership courses. ACLS, PALCS, TNCC and ENPC.

Capable to organize people and resources for efficiencies and success. Proven abilities to effectively handle employee conflict. Empowers other to take responsibility and actions. Connect Care, MS Office, Netcare, Pyxis, NVCI
