Description
We are seeking an Advisor, Procurement & Contract Management to join our Provincial Operations Support Team within Nutrition, Food, Linen & Environmental Services (NFLES) team. Reporting to the Manager Contracts & Procurement NFLES, this role is responsible for managing procurement strategies, lifecycle management of equipment, tools, and associated supplies used in food services (kitchens and service) and environmental services (cleaning, waste management, sanitation). The role demands an individual who is skilled in solving complex problems, highly customer-focused, and possesses strong critical thinking abilities to effectively address challenges and possesses in-depth technical expertise in relevant equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across Zones/Provincial Operations, CPSM, Capital Management, and Finance to ensure service agreements align with operational needs and strategic goals. Procurement & Contract Support: Ensure contracts meet AHS policies, procedures, & legislative requirements. Develop, approve, & execute procurement strategies for equipment, including briefing notes & documentation. Collaborate with Managers to define & validate contracted service delivery needs. Ensure equipment meets operational needs & manage install, repair, replacement, & lifecycle tracking of equipment & supplies used in food services (ovens, refrigerators, dish machines, steam tables) & environmental services (floor machines, vacuums, carts, waste compactors, sanitation tools). Develop & maintain technical, functional, & operational specs for NFLES in renovations, facility development, & stakeholder use. Provide expertise in procurement processes & contract negotiations, addressing issues, costs, & contract terms. Direct contract management & procurement activities with CPSM & other AHS stakeholders. Represent NFLES in provincial meetings with leadership & vendors. Compliance Monitoring: Develop & implement monitoring tools/frameworks to evaluate vendor/service provider performance & contract compliance. Monitor emerging industry trends/technologies to recommend organizational efficiencies. Work with Operations to mitigate risks & address, equipment compliance, & service/lifecycle issues. Service Transition Management: Manage vendor/service provider contract transitions to avoid gaps, degradation in product/services & minimize risk. Provide support & staff training on equipment operation, safety, & maintenance. Provide guidance for establishing new service locations. Contract Changes & Amendments: Assess/approve contract change requests for financial, operational & NFLES impact. Provide direction to Operations & service providers on contract changes. Manage change requests using standard tools & templates.
At least 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, service performance, process improvement and contract management within a large organization. Possess in-depth knowledge of food and environmental services and equipment, including kitchen, floor care, furniture, and cleaning supplies. Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations, identify key issues, and make effective decisions to solve problems. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to assess customer needs and provide solutions aimed at continuous improvement. Strong project management and process improvement skills, with expertise in service transitions and compliance monitoring. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving business process improvements. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities. Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams across multiple levels. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills and commitment to providing quality service. Knowledge and demonstrated application of strategic business planning, modeling concepts, and program and project management theories, principles and practices. Advanced software competency, like MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) and Adobe Professional.
Completion of post-secondary degree/diploma is required, preferably in the areas of Business, Commerce or Operations Management. Experience in healthcare, logistics, or supply chain management is an asset. Equivalencies of education and related experience may be considered.
