Description
Reporting to the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the Clerical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the clerical team, including reception and booking functions. This role ensures administrative services are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with Alberta Health Services’ mission and policies. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Support: Supervise clerical staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback. Onboarding & Training: Coordinate orientation and ongoing education for new and existing staff to maintain service excellence. Process & Policy Management: Implement and monitor policies and procedures for reception, booking, transcription, and film/electronic library functions. Systems Expertise: Maintain proficiency in RIS, HIS, PACS, and Netcare; ensure staff competency in these systems. Compliance & Quality: Monitor adherence to provincial, zone, and departmental standards; provide re-education as needed. Collaboration & Communication: Act as a resource for staff, liaise with other hospital departments, and foster a positive, respectful work environment.
As an Administrative Support VI, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. diploma in business or office administration, specialized external certification).
High School Diploma plus completion of Medical Office Assistant or Unit Clerk courses required. Minimum 3 years of clerical and booking experience in Diagnostic Imaging. Leadership/Supervisory experience is required. Proficient in MS Office Suite required. Experience managing electronic images and working knowledge of Provincial Electronic Imaging (PEI). Strong supervisory and teaching abilities. Demonstrated ability to motivate staff and maintain accuracy in work processes. Excellent organizational skills; able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English. Ability to foster teamwork, work independently, and assume responsibility. Skilled in facilitating change within a dynamic, technology-driven environment. Commitment to following established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Post-secondary education in Office Administration, Business Administration, or Health Information Management. Advanced knowledge of Connect Care, PACS, and Netcare; Super User level preferred.
