Description
This is an Administrative Support V position within Billing Cash and Collections team. The position is a varied role providing focused accounting investigation, transaction validation in accordance with AHS policies and procedures. Problem solving and customer support skills are required when dealing with internal and external clients, and potentially difficult details surrounding each situation. The position also provides support to other clerks. AS V positions may work in a single accountability or a set of accountability areas. Duties include but are not limited to: Review/ validation of billing transactions. Investigation of AR Billing/Payment concerns. Errors, misapplied, unidentified payments. Recurring manual invoices. Data quality maintenance. Ensuring correctness of records, including edits, merges, and deactivations. Review of data quality for accuracy. Generating reports. Resolution, investigation, escalation of discrepancies AR collections. Write-off and referral to collections agencies. Processing bankruptcy notices. Preparation of routine GL journal entries, logging and submitting for approval. Recommendation for improvements to systems/procedures/policies for compliance or efficiency Customer/Client Inquiry & Follow-Up. Initiates and responds to inquiries relating to evaluation and interpretation of multiple policies and guidelines. Investigating and resolving disputes and managing difficult communications. Reconciliation of basic accounts/ transactions from multiple sources: Investigating/resolving discrepancies. Explanation of differences. Escalation of difficult situations. Other/Ad Hoc Requests. Testing. Financial statement working papers. Providing backup coverage. Coaching/training other staff, monitoring workflow and re-assigning work.
As an Administrative Support V, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).
Post-Secondary Education (actively enrolled in a beginner to intermediate level of accredited accounting program) AND/OR. 3-5 years of related accounting experience. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrated competency in use of MS Office applications especially Word and Excel, and ability to adapt to various software programs. Advanced customer support experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Ability to meet defined deadlines. High degree of initiative, judgment, and decision-making capabilities. Ability to function with minimal direction. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to foster relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders. Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience with various levels of responsibility in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Experience coaching and mentoring team members.
Healthcare environment experience is an asset. Preference granted to employees with additional education, for example an accounting certificate, a Bachelor’s degree including relevant courses in accounting or finance, or eligibility for entry into the CPA designation program.
