Description
This position coordinates the Canadian Hospital Injury Reporting Prevention Program (CHIRPP) which is the collection and submission of injury forms for children presenting to the Stollery Children ' s Emergency Department. Collected forms are sent to the Public Health Agency of Canada. The coordinator assists in preparation of injury reports and interpretation of the CHIRPP data collected at the site. The position also supports injury prevention activities for the Stollery and rest of Alberta with national involvement in an advisory capacity to the Injury and Child Maltreatment Section of the Public Health Agency of Canada.
As an Administrative Support V, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to meet deadlines and support staff and physicians. Ability to analyze data, interpret reports, and ensure accurate injury and mental health-related coding. Proven advocacy skills and experience liaising with Alberta Health Services and the Public Health Agency of Canada. Diploma or certificate in a health or related field required (equivalent education and experience considered). Strong computer skills, including EPIC, Excel, and CHIRPP systems. Responsibilities include day‑to‑day team support, staff orientation and training, data quality assurance, process improvement, and preparation of sanitized reports while maintaining confidentiality. Role involves working in a clinical setting with significant daily walking and potential exposure to EMS and trauma situations. Collaboration with national CHIRPP partners and participation in injury prevention activities as required.
Knowledge of trauma scoring and ICD coding preferred. Coordination of research projects is preferred. Data collection methodology is preferred.
