Please ensure that you understand this is a muti-site position. This is a casual Administrative Support IV position within the Department of Surgery. This position is responsible for the support of varied specialties at two hospitals: the Peter Lougheed Centre or Alberta Children's Hospital. The duties assigned to this position include but are not limited to managing internal/external urgent and emergent referrals through Connect Care work queues, receiving and managing patient phone calls, booking pre and postoperative testing, booking surgical procedures, liaising with AHS stakeholders and external physician offices. This position provides coverage for planned and unplanned absences. Work is assigned based on operational need. There are no guaranteed shifts for this position (after training); workload coverage is on an ad hoc basis. Training for this position will be provided at both sites to the successful candidate(s). You must be eligible and able to fulfill/attend full time training at both sites for approximately six to eight weeks. Ongoing evaluation during that time will be performed to determine if a candidate is able to maintain the position and then work independently. This position is best suited to someone who is flexible and willing to take on challenges in a variety of tasks on a daily basis. This position requires someone who follows patient and family centered care ideals. This position requires excellent communication skills, excellent customer service skills and critical thinking skills. This position requires the applicant to have current Connect Care (Epic) booking experience, Netcare and phone etiquette skills and experience. As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Some post-secondary education.

Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required; Medical Office Assistant (MOA) certification required. A post-secondary education relevant to this position may be considered. Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook) required. Current working knowledge of clinical software applications (Connect Care/Epic and Netcare) required. A minimum of two years of current administrative experience within a complex clinical administrative role required. Accurate keyboarding skills: minimum typing speed of 50 wpm required. Effective time management skills and critical thinking and prioritization skills required. Excellent English communication, written, spelling, grammar and proofreading skills required. Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills are required for this position. This position requires the candidate to be flexible and able to work under pressure to manage competing and changing priorities. You are required to exercise professionalism and sound judgement, tact, diplomacy and discretion at all times. You are required to abide by all organizational information privacy management procedures, processes and guidelines.
