Description
We require an enthusiastic and experienced Administrative Assistant IV for the RAH Central Booking Offices. The Administrative Support IV position works autonomously and collaboratively with the members of the Surgical booking team. As an Administrative Support IV, you will demonstrate clear and accurate data entry and open and effective written and verbal communication skills to facilitate: Operating Room bookings, schedules and slates; and, Performs clerical, computer and data entry duties. The Administrative Support IV is responsible for data entry with emphasis on attention to detail. The Administrative Support IV also contacts patients in a timely and accurate manner with various dates, times and instructions related to their surgical procedure as instructed by the Registered Nurse. A high degree of tact, diplomacy and patience is required as many of these patients can be in a stressful and unwell state. Accuracy is required in order to ensure that all information is relayed and understood by patients. The Administrative Support IV liaises with surgeon's offices, anesthesiology department, pre-admission clinic, same day admit surgery department, surgical units, medical records and diagnostic imaging and inputs data into a database system and is responsible for the preparation and production of OR schedules and statistical data reports.
As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Some post-secondary education.
Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. course(s) in business administration, medical office assistant), or other related fields. Medical Terminology. 2 years of experience in a health care setting. Demonstrates expertise in Office software, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; and Connect Care. Excellent written and oral communication. Advance knowledge of computer technology and applications Strong grammar and proof-reading skills. Time management with proficient organizational skills. Ability to work and problem solve under minimal supervision. Goal oriented, results driven with high attention to detail. Demonstrates excellence and effectiveness in communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work at computer station for 7 hours per day is required.
Working knowledge of Alberta Health Services systems and processes; general office policies and procedures. Current surgical scheduling experience in Connect Care is preferred.
