The Youth Addiction & Forensic Mental Health portfolio is looking for a skilled, enthusiastic, innovative leader to join the Edmonton Youth Recovery Program. The Counseling Supervisor will oversee day to day operations within the program, ensure effective program delivery and provide clinical and administrative supervision to a multidisciplinary team. The role is responsible for ensuring that services are family and client centered and concurrent capable. The position requires innovation, creativity, and passion for the delivery of addiction services for youth and families, and the successful applicant will have experience in addiction counseling, supervision of frontline staff, program development and evaluation. In this role, you are responsible for the provision of addiction practice expertise and operational supervision of the treatment team as well as the development and coordination of the treatment program. You may also provide direct client care and program facilitation as required. You will collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team and leadership team, contributing to overall program development. Excellent time management skills are required and you must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form. The Counseling Supervisor must demonstrate their ability to mobilize and sustain effective teamwork and collaborative practice. The successful applicant must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and be skilled in developing and sustaining interpersonal rapport in a team environment. As an Addiction Counsellor IV, you will provide clinical supervision to the Addiction Services team, coordinate the day-to-day operations as well as delivery of addiction services and programs. Responsibilities include the provision of addiction practice expertise, operational supervision of the Addiction Services team, development and coordination of the treatment and/or prevention program and may provide direct client care or deliver prevention programming. The Addiction Counsellor IV supports the growth and development of addictions staff to deliver safe and effective addiction practice that is concurrent capable. This includes therapeutic screening, assessment and counselling; psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions; and prevention interventions. The Addiction Counsellor IV designs, implements and evaluates addiction programs and services consistent with AHS policies and practices.

Bachelor's degree in a health related field.

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or relevant discipline required. First Aid/BLS, Suicide Prevention Training, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Minimum of 5 years of direct service delivery in addiction and/or mental health. Minimum of 2 years progressive leadership experience.

Preference given to those candidates with a Masters Degree, registration in a professional regulatory body, and/or experience in addiction counseling.
