Air Canada is building a fast-moving Back-end development team to support enterprise applications. This is an excellent opportunity for a developer to join Air Canada (an iconic Canadian symbol) and participate in the development of leading-edge solutions. The ideal candidate we are seeking, is a highly motivated, innovative individual, with excellent analytical skills, who is results-oriented (ready to deliver) and self-driven.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret new and existing requirements to modify corresponding applications accordingly.
  • Responsible for implementing well-designed, testable and efficient code (including unit test cases).
  • Analyze and resolve application issues.
  • Maintain code documentation (including other inputs in technical documents).
  • Assess requirements, identify dependencies/risks and take actions to resolve them
  • Optimize code performance and its quality.
  • Identify potential issues between systems and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve development constraints and deployment issues.
  • Responsible for managing code repositories, packaging software, and supporting deployment of releases
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the team and its processes by bringing new ideas, solutions, and delivering productive feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development for enterprise services and applications.
  • Strong experience in MuleSoft development, integrations and platform tools.
  • Strong experience in application development using service oriented, web services and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases. Experience with relational databases is added advantage.
  • Knowledge of API-related protocols, specifications and data formats.
  • Knowledge of Agile environment with experience in source control systems like GitHub, Bit-Bucket, etc.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment lifecycle
  • Knowledge of design and integration patterns.
  • Ability to work effectively and produce high quality work under pressure and in rapidly changing environments or uncertain conditions.
  • Ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team in person and remotely.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Interest in learning new technologies and in understanding the airline industry
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

Assets

  • Experience with Java-based ESB
  • Experience with an API-management software
  • Experience with AWS technologies
  • Experience with development using Node.js
  • Certifications in core programming languages, Cloud platforms, DevOps and Agile methodologies
  • Experience in the Airline Industry
