THE PERSON:
AMD is seeking a highly motivated individual to AMD-AECG’s Embedded Software & AI (ESAI) CoE as a Embedded Software Technical Marketing Engineer - AI/ML with a focus on AI/ML, where you’ll work on next-generation graphics and compute solutions spanning OpenGL ES, Vulkan, OpenCL, and emerging machine learning runtimes including ROCM & ZenDNN.
You’ll work on cutting-edge technologies involving graphics rendering (OpenGL ES, Vulkan), GPU compute (OpenCL, HIP), and machine learning inference frameworks (PyTorch, ONNX Runtime, MIGraphX, ZenDNN) to help shape the next generation of visual and intelligent compute workloads.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with strong programming skills, curiosity about GPU architectures, and an interest in optimizing both graphics and AI models for performance and efficiency.
If you are a early-career engineer passionate about GPUs, computer graphics, and AI and you enjoy writing code that runs close to hardware, learning how GPUs execute workloads, and experimenting with both graphics and ML frameworks, feel free to apply. If you ’re curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to build your expertise in graphics rendering, compute acceleration, and ML deployment, you will gain, hands-on exposure to AMD GPU and AI Engine architectures, experience across graphics rendering, GPU compute, and AI acceleration workflows. You will gain mentorship from senior engineers and architects in AMD’s Graphics & Compute Systems organization. Opportunity to contribute to next-generation heterogeneous compute software on both ARM and x86 platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define, design, and advocate techniques to optimize graphics rendering pipelines and AI inference workloads on GPUs.
- Work with cross-functional teams (runtime, driver, hardware , software) to help define the features & strategy to optimize software stack components.
- Bring up and evaluate emerging ML models based on CNNs and Transformers, characterizing power and performance on AMD devices.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to learn & integrate optimized GPU and AI models into production software stacks & resolve customer issues.
- Develop and validate GPU-accelerated demo applications showcasing real-time rendering and neural network inference on hardware for benchmarking.
- Assist in integrating and validating GPU features across embedded (Zynq, Versal) and x86 (Ryzen) platforms.
- Create applications, visualization tools, & demo content showcasing graphics and compute capabilities on AMD devices
- Develop customer facing Collateral , Document findings, maintain code & test scripts, and support internal technical trainings & content creation.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Academic or project experience in computer graphics, GPU programming, or parallel computing & Familiarity with at least TWO API’s (OpenGL ES, Vulkan, OpenCL, DirectX, CUDA).
- Exposure to machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX), Knowledge of model optimization techniques such as quantization, pruning, or architecture search.
- Exposure to LLMs, diffusion models, or visual AI (e.g., NeRF, text-to-image/video) is a plus.
- Knowledge of GPU pipelines, rendering concepts, and compute shaders.
- Good to have, understanding of compiler optimizations, network mapping, and kernel performance tuning on GPUs or NPUs.
- Excellent Communication Skills & Comfort working in a Linux & Baremetal development environment and using version control tools (e.g., Git).
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s Or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
