The starting annual salary for this School Teacher position ranges from $49,470.40 to $86,766.40, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Candidates should possess a Major/Minor or diploma in Special Education and training and experience with Level B Assessments (ie. KBIT2/KTEA III). The Secondary Work Study/Work Experience program supports designated students in achieving success through academics and introductory work experiences. Students participate in some regular classes while developing a combination of modified academic and functional skills. Each year, they complete two off-site work experience placements. Every student has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) that emphasizes functional academics, social and community skills, life skills, and vocational volunteer opportunities.

This position is dynamic and multi-faceted, offering both in-class and out-of-class experiences, and includes EA support. The permanent teacher assigned to this program will work one day per week, with the potential to increase later in the semester, and will serve as an excellent resource and support for the temporary teacher.

*This opportunity is a temporary UFN contract, which is subject to change or cancel before June 26, 2026 . In the event the teacher returns to work (work-hardening, part-time, full-time) before the end of the school year, the duration and/or FTE of this temporary assignment will be amended. The successful applicant must accept the reduced work week (amended to a part-time contract) but will have the option to remain in a temporary 1.0 FTE contract by working as a Priority TTOC on other days until June 26, 2026 .

Education & Experience

  • Major/minor or diploma in Special Education
  • Case management experience required
  • Training and experience with Level B Assessments (ie. KBIT2/KTEA III)
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
