Toti:ltawtxw mean "a place of learning". Irene Kelleher Toti:ltawtxw has been open now for two school years. Its foundation is the connections we have with students, staff, families and the environment around us. As a strong collaborative team, we have created a school community that values building kind, caring and courageous learners. Education & Experience
- Teacher training with major practicum work at the Elementary school level
- Experience and knowledge of Stó:lo culture, teachings and protocols required
- Experience sharing cultural knowledge of First Nations, Métis and Inuit People required
- Experience working with Indigenous learners, their families and in Indigenous communities an asset
- Specific training in Indigenous Education e.g.: Major or Minor in Indigenous Studies
- Halqemeylem and/or Michif Language preferred
- Experience and ability teaching and supporting academic success
- Experience and skill supporting diverse learners an asset
- Knowledge of enhancement agreement within the goals areas of the Indigenous Enhancement Agreement and the Local Education Agreement with Semá:th First Nation and Mathxwí First Nation
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Eligible for B.C. Certification
- Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
Teaching Competencies
All teachers are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

- Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment
- Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics.
- Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning
- Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
- Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
- Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
