The starting annual salary for this part-time School Teacher position ranges from $41, 470.40 to $86, 766.40, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Ten-Broeck is a trauma informed school that deeply believes in connection and relationship with each child and family. We are an inclusive, diverse and vibrant school community committed to the social and emotional wellness of our students. We have a strong literacy focus with all our classroom teachers implementing UFLI in their instruction.

The successful candidate will be committed to working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to design an environment and programming conducive to engaging children and their families. They should have a breadth of knowledge and experience in the areas of social emotional learning, trauma informed practice, differentiated instruction, and familiar with technology used to support students.

The successful candidate may be required to complete LSS Essentials, a series of 3 workshops facilitated by the LSS Department.

Education & Experience

  • Major/minor or diploma in Inclusive Education (aka Special Education)
  • Practicum and/or work experience in Inclusive Education at the Elementary level
  • Case management experience required
  • Training and experience with Level B Assessments (ie. KBIT2/KTEA III)
  • Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

Teaching Competencies

All teachers are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of others in a tactful, compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment
  • Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics.
  • Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students’ interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning
  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
