3M is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the Brockville, ON site.
*Successful security clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration program is a mandatory pre-requirement for this position at this location. Please note the following are some (but not all) of the listed requirements for Controlled Goods Clearance:
- Must be a Canadian citizen normally residing in Canada, or must be a Permanent Resident normally residing in Canada
- Must have valid and current identification (i.e.: driver’s license, passport, birth certificate)
- Must be able to provide a residential address and employment history of the past 5 years
- If applicable, living outside of Canada during the past five years will require an international criminal name check
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Quality Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Optimize and continuously improve the Quality Management System. You will be responsible for leading and resolving plant quality issues, including non-conformances, complaints, and CAPAs, by collaborating with cross-functional teams to investigate root causes, implement corrective actions, and verify their effectiveness.
- Approve product disposition following inspection, testing, and documentation review. Ensure that plant non-conformances are resolved prior to product release by collaborating with cross-functional teams to investigate and ensure products meet quality standards before they leave the facility. Coach production floor operators to foster a Quality Culture and prevent non-conformances.
- Manage supplier operations, including handling Supplier Corrective Action Requests, product returns, supplier assessments, and conducting on-site supplier audits. Complete inventory scrap process and manage Quarantine inventory.
- Establish and set up quality parameters for new product introductions in collaboration with engineering and development teams. Manage work to meet project plans, timelines, and deliverables, and communicating progress and issues to key stakeholders.
- Support plant quality audit requirements by performing internal audits, supporting external audits (ISO, regulatory, etc.), and ensuring audit action items are completed. Direct compliance for controlled document management by maintaining, monitoring, and improving existing procedures based on regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in a technical field (minimum 4 year degree) or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Three (3) years of manufacturing quality experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Demonstrated experience at being able to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize task independently
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform self-directed tasks and work as part of a cross-functional team
- Experience with ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 13485:2016; experience conducting internal audits according to regulated standards will be considered an asset
- Strong customer-first quality focus, with a proven ability to develop solutions to difficult problems
- Experience with the use of quality/statistical tools, e.g. Power BI, Minitab, proficient in MS Office, and SAP experience is a plus
