The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The focus of this role is to monitor and to make sure 3M Canada Dangerous Goods (DG) are following the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulation and Act (TDG) and international transport regulations. This includes the correct classification, documentation, training and offering for transport of 3M Dangerous Goods, making sure that 3M employees, property and the environment are protected.


As a Dangerous Goods Transportation Analyst , you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Dangerous Goods classification (TDG, IATA, and IMDG Code)

  • Transport Canada (TDG) regulation compliance monitoring

  • 3M Canada Subject Matter Expert for transportation of Dangerous Goods

  • Conduct DG compliance audits of plant/distribution center locations

  • Provide DG shipment discrepancies support. Maintain and oversee 3M Transport Canada DG (TDG) training program

  • Update & maintain Dangerous Goods classifications in 3M SAP system

  • Provide TDG support to 3M Canada internal and external customers

  • TDG Training records approvals and updating of the training program

  • MICAW material extension process and approval

  • Packaging Standard review and approval. One Display - Promotional kits displays approvals

  • IMO & IATA Declaration creation including domestic maritime transport documents. eMSO shipments, international and domestic

  • Canada domestic Dangerous Goods return process approvals

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Two (2) years of Dangerous Goods transportation experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with the transportation classification of Dangerous Goods in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Trained in applicable Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDG, IATA and IMDG Code)
  • Supply Chain experience helpful

Work location:

  • Work Your Way Eligible (Employee choice to work remote, on site, or hybrid)

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
