Job Overview

The Sunnybrook Research Institute, Holland Bone & Joint Centre, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is seeking an energetic and efficient Research Coordinator to work on projects in the areas of health professions education, assessment, and quality improvement. This individual will perform research activities for multiple research studies and oversee the day-to-day operations of a dynamic and collegial team (overseen by Dr. Markku Nousiainen and Dr. Cari Whyne). They will help to advance a research program aiming to develop expert surgical teams, involving collaboration with various invested partners at SHSC including scientists, research associates, and health professionals.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Graduate Degree and/or >1-2 years of research experience in psychology, education, kinesiology, human factors, or a related field
  • Experience conducting research with human participants
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time, and adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Experience preparing research protocols suitable for Research Ethics Boards (REBs) submission
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, R, NVivo)
  • Experience organizing, managing, coding, and analyzing quantitative data
  • Experience with qualitative and/or mixed methods research would be an asset
  • Experience in and/or understanding of health professions training would be an asset

 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Prepare protocols for research and quality improvement studies, including assisting with grant applications.
  • Collect, collate, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring data quality.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of assessment tools and training interventions.
  • Coordination of participants and data collection scheduling.
  • Work independently as well as within a collaborative environment.
  • Assist with preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and poster presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
