Position Summary
If you have honed your acute care nursing practice and are an experienced and innovative clinical educator who is skilled in developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical practice standards then we have a rewarding opportunity for you at Shuswap Community Care Health Services Centre, located in Salmon Arm, BC.

The Knowledge Coordinator - Operations / Diabetes Education Program, ED2 holds accountability for the design, validation and evaluation of simulation curriculum, courses, and training that adhere to adult learning principles and quality outcomes. In this position you will primarily facilitate simulations and real life scenarios with mannequins while engaging with many different Health care professionals including nurses, physicians and many others.

This is a Permanent Part-time position working Monday to Friday, Days - 08:30 to 15:45

What will you work on?
The Knowledge Coordinator, in consultation with the Manager, works with Operational Leadership in the implementation, delivery and evaluation of education, training and related knowledge services as assigned, and within an assigned HCIS Operations area.

Under the direction of the Manager, and in collaboration with Program Directors and Practice Leads, the Knowledge Coordinator promotes consistent application, delivery and integration of evidence-based knowledge within an assigned HCIS area by:
• identifying effective delivery methods, technology and venues for required education and knowledge transfer;
• implementing knowledge transfer methods and techniques and supporting their use by staff (and others); and
• evaluating the effectiveness of knowledge services initiatives and evaluating/reviewing the learning needs of staff (and others).

The Knowledge Coordinator utilizes adult teaching /learning and change management principles and acts as a resource to front line staff and others by providing guidance and support in relation to education/knowledge transfer methods, technologies, best practices and initiatives within the assigned HCIS Operations area.

Qualfications

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing (including content in a HCIS program related field) with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Three (3) years’ recent related experience in the assigned HCIS Program/Operations area and two (2) years’ formal experience in adult teaching/learning, curriculum development, teaching, providing in services or staff development function; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid BC driver’s license.

Diabetes Education Program:
Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution, three (3) years’ recent related experience including one year of teaching experience in a Diabetes Education program and two (2) years’ formal experience in adult teaching/learning, curriculum development, teaching, providing in services or staff development function; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Valid Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification.
Current valid BC driver’s license.
