Job Description

Reporting to the Primary Health Care Manager and in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Primary Health Care Teams and the physician(s), the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care services to the residents of the community. These services includes health promotions and protection; disease and injury prevention; chronic disease management and prevention; provision of supportive, instructive, treatment and emergency services; collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals; conducting community needs assessments and participation in evaluation projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner Masters Program
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Experience
Minimum of three (3) years experience working as a Registered Nurse, with experience as RN (NP) in a Primary Health Care setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to competently use computers and software applications as required by the position
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships and communication with other health care professionals
  • Ability to make decisions, which must include coordination of staffing, and/or patient care, and/or coordination of equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Communication skills to provide/obtain verbal and/or written opinions/advice
  • Computer skills in such programs as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of community development
  • Leadership skills
  • Working knowledge in health promotion

Additional Information

Will provide visiting services to sites within the service area. Travel Required.

  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory or designated holiday is recognized during that period.
