Job Description:

As a Director, Technical Lead, Digital Advisor Channel and a member of the Advisor Channel leadership team, the Director, Technical Lead drives the technology strategy and delivery across the Prospr Advisor Channel.

Prospr delivers a unique, holistic life, health and wealth advice-based service offering that is driven by a client-friendly experience, support from human advisors, and an intuitive and personalized digital platform.

Together with the Prospr Product Owner the Director, Technical Lead drives the strategy, recommendations, and delivery of technology solutions across the Advisor Channel. Responsible for ensuring employment of the right practices, and ensuring all technical squads remain invested and collaborate. The incumbent will work closely together with the Prospr Product Owner to ensure an integrated end-to-end view across people and technology. They will also work with stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure we are delivering sustainable, scalable, and stable solutions that are fit for purpose. In parallel, this role will focus on building a high-performing team that will thrive in a fast-paced continuous delivery environment.

What you will do

  • Educate teams on the end-to-end Advisor Channel, including its process components & pain points
  • Identify shared components / capabilities and align with technical & architecture requirements
  • Champion product and process simplification
  • Communicate priorities to technical quads based on the roadmap
  • Jointly lead & orchestrate the prioritization, selection, and “incubation” process (e.g., business unit outreach, client research, prototyping & co-creation, design thinking, business casing, etc.)
  • Act as the ‘face’ of the Advisor Channel in partnership with the Product Owner to the organization, from idea to kickoff, through to implementation and the management of stakeholders.
  • Own long-term technology roadmap, including integration points with relevant teams
  • In partnership with the Prospr Product Owner, drive strategic business casing & opportunity sizing
  • Facilitate technical / business discussions to define the work needed to achieve minimum required business value
  • Working with squad Scrum Masters, Product Owners and Technical Leads to identify, resolve, and escalate technical impediments

What you will require to be successful

Key Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of relevant domains/products/experiences of the Advisor Channel, which includes leads management, assessing client needs, and delivering holistic advice (life, wealth, health) digitally to our clients.
  • Technical leadership with Salesforce.com is a preferred asset
  • Technical leadership with software systems integration and APIs
  • Experience delivering large-scale digital/agile transformations
  • Experience developing & shaping strategy for a product area or large program
  • Broad network and ability to influence across the organization is critical
  • Vendor management experience including vendor selection, contracting, integration, and oversight.

Agile Experience:

  • Experienced in the Agile way of working (e.g., quick iterations with done better than perfect)
  • Experience delivering agile at scale (e.g. SAFe) is a strong asset.
  • Experience applying design-thinking principles for a variety of end users

  • Ability to set a vision and map the steps to achieve that vision
  • Ability to translate day-to-day learnings and team inputs into strategic actions
  • Aptitude for distilling high-level input into clear recommendations, deliverables, and actions
  • Ability to both grasp big picture and have rigorous attention to detail

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
