The Group has been present in Canada for more than 70 years, and now has 1,700 employees spread over six industrial sites. Safran is now a major local player in its long-established areas of expertise. It is in particular one of the main engine manufacturers for Canadian airlines. Safran has made provision to respond to the Canadian armed forces’ need to modernize and develop.
The Safran Landing Systems plant at Ajax, Ontario, specializes in the design, development, production and maintenance of landing systems, while the site at Mirabel, Quebec, produces the main components for landing gear. The Safran Helicopter Engines site, also at Mirabel, maintains and repairs its Arriel and Arrius helicopter engines, which are used in the fleets of North-American operators.
The Safran Cabin site at Kirkland, Quebec, produces interior equipment for most Bombardier business aircraft, in particular those in the Global and Challenger ranges.
