There are a wide range of careers in sports and recreation. For a start, there are all the athletes, amateur and professional, and the coaches and referees. But the list doesn’t stop there. There are countless other professionals working at the very heart of these industries or in satellite sectors. These include education, activity leadership (recreation technician, instructor, recreation attendant, etc.), guidance, training, competition, specialized sales and merchandising, management, event organization and management, and many more.
All enthusiasts can aspire to a career in sports and recreation, but they must have pursued prior training in the relevant field. Moreover, specialized studies are mandatory for those wishing to undertake a specialized career such as sports physician, sports reporter or physiotherapist.
