Role Summary
The Sunnybrook Research Institute is seeking a full-time Research Analyst (User-Centered Design Specialist) to support Dr. Natalie Coburn in designing and developing patient-centered digital health tools. This individual will join an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, and patients working on a suite of web-based platforms aimed at improving the cancer care experience. Responsibilities include translating clinical and research objectives into accessible digital experiences through user-centered design, prototyping, usability testing, and iterative development. The successful candidate will also contribute to academic publications, grant proposals, and patient engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead user-centered design of web-based tools for cancer patients, care partners, and healthcare providers
- Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and patients to translate research objectives into accessible digital experiences
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to shape web platform architecture and functionality
- Build and maintain web platforms in Webflow
- Design and conduct usability testing with key project stakeholders
- Mentor research staff on patient engagement and design practices
- Manage ongoing evaluation and iterative improvements of digital tools
- Prepare manuscripts, grant proposals, presentations, and patient engagement reports
- Develop feature backlogs, design roadmaps, and strategic plans to drive long-term growth
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Design, Health Sciences, Computer Science); advanced training or certification in UX or related disciplines an asset
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in research, healthcare design, or digital product development, ideally within a clinical or academic setting
- Demonstrated expertise in UX design, user journey mapping, and accessibility standards
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for building and refining web-based tools
- Experience conducting user interviews, usability testing, or stakeholder consultations in healthcare or sensitive populations an asset
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams
