As our new VP of Innovation, you will own the ongoing innovation efforts to support our ambition of becoming the customer and digital leader within our industry. We are undergoing a fundamental re-imagining of our most critical customer and advisor experiences and extending products and services to build new revenue streams and business models, and you will play a key role.
Stay abreast of emerging trends and opportunities and serve as a leader with vision to identify new opportunities to drive growth, transform the customer experience and improve our digital agenda
Enable the company to capitalize on early stage initiatives, which will include scouting for, and executing on, strategic startup partnerships
Establish the company’s approach and prioritization toward innovation, and guide the organization to develop, cultivate and pursue the most promising and ground-breaking ideas
Drive the company’s capability in terms of testing, learning and scaling innovations across the enterprise
Work with function and segment leaders as they formulate their business strategies to find opportunities for innovation to accelerate our customer and digital transformation and drive growth
Work closely with global strategy teams and digital leaders within them to ensure alignment of strategic priorities
Quarterback innovation centrally but enable innovation to thrive wherever it resides
Build a global innovation ecosystem and promote thought leadership
Establish appropriate tools, forums and processes to engage innovation champions and communicate the latest trends across the enterprise
Perform ongoing market scans of the innovation developments among insurance and wealth management competitors, technology players, startups/incubators, and companies in adjacent industries
Perform due diligence on potential partners, including complimentary service providers and emerging technology-based innovators, ranging from startups to established players
Experience in large, sophisticated organizations at an executive level, and a background in financial services preferred, though insurance is an asset
A successful track record in innovation and digital transformation initiatives
Previous success leading business, product, process and/or cultural transformation
Tech-savvy and future-focused, with the ability to assess new concepts and technologies and resolve would be applicable and ground-breaking for the organization
A deep understanding of digital trends and emerging technology solutions
A track record of progressing new insights, products, processes and strategies across a highly matrixed, global organization
Strong strategically, but with an execution focus and results orientation
Foresight - able to spot the trends and developments that are most relevant to Manulife, and able to shape and clearly articulate the opportunities
