Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

We are seeking a self-motivated Senior engineer, who is obsessed with delivering value, is forward-thinking, and excited to see the successful implementation of the products.

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate with product and engineering managers, software engineers, and operations engineers to uncover pain points and opportunities to deliver new business value through software
  • Prototype and build new functionality to deliver on key product objectives
  • Deliver an exceptional user experience to our customers, through the delivery of products and services with strong and extendable architectural design
  • Guide the development of engineering staff within your team
  • Contribute to application and technical architecture plans as they relate to the tools and systems in place within our organization.
  • Maintain and support these services, with accountability for production reliability and usage, and the delivery of new functionality
  • Be part or lead initiatives within Business Unit to develop and improve standards and methodologies.
  • Influence and lead discussions with our strategic vendors to advance our platforms and deliver value sooner
  • Work with lead Engineers to collaborate with our Architecture team realizing the strategic vision of Manulife’s technology stack

You will bring and continuously build upon:

  • Experience in IT for at least 10 years with 5 or more years in a similar position
  • Solid hands on experience in .NET Core, React, Node.js, Java, HTML5 and CSS3
  • Experience in designing solid .NET Core, .Net Framework, React component with Redux, that is reusable, efficient and easy to maintain; Knowledge of React server-side rendering
  • Experience with Azure SQL database platform
  • Cloud based development experience with Cloud Foundry or similar platform.
  • Experience in distributed event streaming such as Kafka or similar platform
  • Working experience of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins etc.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring tools such as New Relic, Dynatrace etc.
  • Working knowledge in test frameworks such as TestNG, Selenium etc. and knowledge of test-driven development
  • Working knowledge with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features
  • Developing junior engineers and a passion for growing staff within the organization
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within a rapidly changing startup environment; you love the challenge of working on a small team and being part of a larger movement to change the engineering culture of an enterprise
  • Experimenting with emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next
  • A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, remaining open to change and continuous improvement
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes across all levels in the organization

  • Languages such as C#, NodeJS, React, HTML5, CSS3 and/or similar technologies
  • Cloud Foundry and other components supporting a highly automated global engineering platform
