Senior Actuarial Analyst

Summary
Working in a team, the incumbent carries out analysis of actuarial calculations and provides support to higher-level Consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Introduction to project management and client management
  • Carry out analysis and do actuarial calculations
  • Perform necessary calculations or analysis on special retirement projects
  • Drafting actuarial valuation reports
  • Communicate with clients through participation in client meetings and presentations
  • Assist Senior Consultants with day to day client contact and problem resolution
  • Be responsible for data analysis using the in-house pension administration software
  • Act as intermediary between the team members and the clients regarding the conditions of plans and members’ entitlements
  • Carry out research on questions related to pensions and benefits by consulting previous working papers, plan documents and applicable legislation when required
  • Mentor junior staff

Succeeding as a Senior Actuarial Analyst will require the following core skills 

  • A minimum of three years experience in Pension Plans 
  • Strong ability to analyze problems with accuracy and solve them
  • Strong aptitude for communication, organization and negotiation
  • Aptitude for taking initiative and working as well without supervision as in a team
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and respond to constantly changing needs and priorities
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Excel
  • Capacity to program actuarial calculations

What Education and experience do I need?

  • Relevant industry experience
  • Post-secondary degree in actuarial science, mathematics or business
  • Working towards FCIA designation with the successful completion of a minimum of two actuarial exams
  • Understanding of actuarial principles and applicable legislation
