Job Description

Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home is recruiting a Manager of Food Services. We are an Emmanuel Health long-term care home, located in Regina, SK. We operate under a Principles and Services Agreement with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and provide personal and nursing care to 147 residents. Providing them a vibrant community of health, healing and hope is our vision. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be accountable to ensure quality, resident-centered dietary services through an effective and efficient Food Services department. The department provides services for residents, staff, and guests. As the Manager you will:

  • Lead and oversee the successful day-to-day operations of the food services team. 
  • Plan, organize, direct and control the full operation of the Food Services Department including: 
    • hiring, training, and developing your team
    • maintaining standards of quality
    • controlling labor, food, and equipment costs
    • ensuring effective staffing models 
    • maintaining sanitary conditions in accordance with guidelines and regulations, including Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
  • contribute to an ongoing culture of safety and continuous improvement and the successful implementation of safety initiatives 
  • ensure continuous improvement in the quality of food service by investigating, analyzing and implementing innovative service ideas to enhance the dining experience
  • respect Saskatchewan Labor Standards and the CUPE collective agreement 
  • work cooperatively with all members of the Santa Maria team
  • assume assigned responsibilities of other Managers in their absence and on-call responsibility for the department during non-business hours to respond to urgent staff and resident needs.

The Individual

The successful applicant must have:

  • Graduated from an accredited Food & Nutrition Management Course.
  • A minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in health care
  • Be an active Member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management

Interested individuals should have:

  • Excellent people skills 
  • A demonstrated ability to work in the fast-paced environment of an industrial kitchen 
  • A demonstrated ability to promote team and employee engagement
  • A respect for diversity 
  • Management and supervision experience
  • Exceptional organizational skills 
  • Time management skills and a comfort with managing competing priorities 
  • Computer fluency (word processing, email, excel spreadsheets, etc.) and an ease with multiple technologies
  • Experience in a long-term care setting will be considered an asset
