We are seeking a Renewables Interconnection Specialist to join our team!
The specialist will provide electrical engineering assessments to determine transmission capacity, conceptual interconnection design, and costing of substation and interconnection equipment. Act as a guide to engage with the various Independent System Operators to support the advancement of projects through interconnection processes.
The incumbent will have direct experience and demonstrated success in the conceptual design of high voltage interconnection schemes and costing as it relates to green-fielding, navigating projects through interconnection processes, and preparing for the development process.

What You Will Do:
Work closely with members of the Power BD team, and support development projects ahead of construction and operation for review by Senior Management.
Initiate and manage the interconnection of greenfield renewable generation sites (wind, solar, and storage) across North America
Coordinate and interpret results from consultants for transmission capacity, economic dispatch, and market capture rate analysis studies
Make portfolio strategy decisions as a basis for critical business decisions including which projects to develop, which markets to prioritize, and conceptual design of project interconnections; conveying highly technical messages including project scope and market assessment.
Assess existing Enbridge electrical substations for interconnection potential and conceptual design in support of new wind, solar, and storage generation (behind the meter and in front of the meter) at existing Enbridge loads
Prepare conceptual design and estimate costs for new interconnection and substations
Identify optimum interconnection strategy based on system impact studies.
Understand processes and assemble inputs required for the interconnection applications including AESO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, and SPP.
Perform necessary computer modeling for power flow and stability studies in support of greenfield and business development options.
Optimize high voltage equipment design decisions and specifications to balance costs, reliability, and capacity as part of the FEED process of greenfield and brownfield wind, solar, and storage projects
Support the permitting and regulatory requirements
Prepare substation/switchyard layout drawings for both internal and external use
Support the financial assessment to allow the Renewable Power team to select the best overall option to advance
Coordinate internal / external engineering leads in the development of engineering specifications to be used by SCM, Major Projects, Operations and Engineering
Provide due diligence on renewable development asset and operating asset acquisition opportunities including high voltage equipment design, interconnection, and curtailment risks.
Build and maintain a strong presence in the renewable industry
Work closely across Power BD to advance both greenfield, M&A and Self-Power opportunities that meet Enbridge’s investment criteria
Work closely with Power Operations to ensure developed facilities are aligned to operating and engineering requirements
Who You Are:
You possess Related degree(s) and associated certifications in Electrical Engineering
7-10 years in design and costing of substations, and interconnection applications in Canada and the United States
Expertise in applying specialized software for load flow studies such as PSS/E, MUST, TARA, ASPEN, ETAP, and/or PowerWorld.
Ability to complete interconnection conceptual design and costing
Knowledge of high voltage facility equipment
Experience in presenting project assessments to Senior Leadership
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities
Ability to function in a diverse team environment
