As part of a multi-disciplinary Child Abuse Service team, this advanced clinical social worker provides assessment, treatment, & consultation to children, youth & their families who are experiencing complex developmental, medical and psychological difficulties associated with child maltreatment. The Child Abuse Service team operates in partnership with the Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre and its partner agencies. Consultation is provided to members of the Child Abuse Service team, other ACH and CDC staff, agency staff working in partnership with Luna and other community agencies and organizations. This position requires the ability to work independently with regular review, supervision, and clinical consultation from the Child Abuse Service Team Leader. There is an expectation that the incumbent be involved in training & supervision of social work students. Involvement in outcomes evaluation is required. Key responsibilities include: comprehensive clinical social work assessment, advanced level treatment interventions, supporting and working with parents/caregivers, participation in court hearings, and consultation & collaboration with referrers, multi-disciplinary team members & community partners.

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Relevant clinical therapy experience working with children, youth & families with complex developmental, medical and emotional presentations associated with child maltreatment; Demonstrated understanding of family centered care principles & the application of family centered care within the context of clients that have experienced child maltreatment; Strong clinical skills and ability to work in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT); Dialectical Behavioural Therapy for Adolescents; CONNECT Parenting Group; Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT); Circle of Security - Parent (COS-P); EMDR; Problematic Sexual Behaviour - CBT (PSB-CBT) and Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI); Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills; Proven ability to work independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team; Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to manage a diverse & heavy workload and ability to meet timelines.

Experience in a multidisciplinary health care setting; Experience with child welfare / child protection; Knowledge and understanding of family dynamics in child maltreatment; Completion of TF-CBT online training; Experience facilitating group treatment; Knowledge and experience in providing testimony for court.
