Come join the team at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre, long term care in Claresholm. Under the supervision of the Nurse Clinician and Care Manager of Long Term Care, this position will: direct and provide resident care, schedule staff as necessary, collaborate with families and residents and the interdisciplinary team. As the leader of the front line team, you will ensure the care needs of residents are being met in a comprehensive and timely manner. Willow Creek- Claresholm, is 107 km south of Calgary and 80 km North of Lethbridge Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if, as the successful candidate in this position, you will be restricted to work at only one LTC/DLS site in Alberta. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in the continuing care setting is an asset, other experience may qualify such as experience working with seniors and the cognitively impaired patients. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families in stressful situations is necessary. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills within a team setting. Maintains a standard of high quality care, self-directed and motivated. Demonstrates a caring attitude towards patients and families, ability to relate to clients in a caring manner with respect and dignity. Ability to work collaboratively with team members is essential. Physical ability to assist with lifting, turning, and transferring adult patients essential. Ability to utilize safe transferring and lifting equipment (It’s Your Move) is necessary. Good attendance as demonstrated in reference check. Effective verbal and written communication required. Must be able to handle the physical demands of the position. Please Note: This position is located outside of the Calgary city limits (107km south of Calgary city limits) and 80 km north of Lethbridge

Preferred Qualifications:

Charge Nurse experience. Dementia care training desired. Completion of Supportive Pathways education strongly recommended. Palliative care training. It’s Your Move. Phlebotomy certification. Immunization certification.
