Registered Nurse - Neuroscience

Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. The RN observes, monitors, reports, and documents changes in the patients physical, mental, and emotional state, assists the patient with activities of daily living and provides the patient and family with relevant information and teaching. The RN is responsible to collaborate as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, delivering consistent quality care, and to meet the needs of the patient.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The candidate must have the physical capability to perform all aspects of the role, including the ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs. Basic computer skills required. Strong leadership and critical thinking skills, demonstrated by the ability to direct other healthcare workers, problem solve and escalate clinical concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills and must be committed to patient and family centered care. Demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families and team members. Successful applicants will undergo Neuroscience Orientation Classes. Upon completion of classes the candidate is required to achieve a minimum pass rate of 80% on the Neurosciences Exam in order to successfully enter the Program. Active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses (CARNA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

1 to 2 years of Neuroscience experience preferred.
