The Psychosocial Rehab Assistant works with a multidisciplinary team, assisting with milieu management and programming within an acute adolescent mental health in-patient unit at the Foothills Hospital. Under the guidance of Registered Nurses and Family Counselors, the Psychosocial Rehab Assistant also supports the implementation of individual and group program plans for children and adolescents admitted to the mental health care unit. Knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent development, and milieu needs is essential to optimal patient care. Must have evening & weekend availability. The Psychosocial Rehab Assistant (PSRA) works with a multidisciplinary team assisting with therapeutic programming within an in-patient or day treatment Mental Health program. Under the guidance of Registered Nurses and Family Counselors, the Psychosocial Rehab Assistant also supports the implementation of individual and group program plans for children and adolescents admitted to the mental health care unit. Knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent development, and therapeutic interventions is essential to optimal patient care. This specific PSRA opportunity involves offering therapeutic support to patients who may be holding in Emergency Department or who are placed 'off service' in medical units throughout the hospital.

Completion of diploma in Social Work or Child and Youth Care or completion of Bachelor's Degree in Psychology .

Where eligible, current registration with a corresponding professional college and association required. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required.

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or BA psychology preferred. Child & Youth Care Studies or Social Work Diploma with relevant experience considered. Previous experience in child and adolescent mental health. Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial and behavioral intervention strategies. Demonstrated knowledge of Family Centered Care and care planning. Experience working on interdisciplinary (or multidisciplinary teams) preferred. Must have evening & weekend availability.
