As a member of the interdisciplinary team at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides safe patient centred care on a 22 bed Older Adult Psychiatry Rehabilitation Unit. Evidence based nursing process is applied to achieve excellence in mood disorders, thought disorders, and dementia care. The successful candidate ensures the delivery of safe and effective patient care by collaborating with the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team and other programs and services. Candidates interested in this position should have experience working with older adults, strong Mental Health Status Examination and Mental Health Assessment skills, working knowledge and experience in rehabilitation, experience in creating Inpatient Care Plans, working knowledge of the DSM-5, ability to recognize changes in patient behaviour and apply de-escalation techniques as required, working knowledge of suicide risk assessment and harm reduction, IV certification and working knowledge of Alaris pumps, working knowledge of legislation such as Mental Health Act, HIA, PPIC and strong communication skills to engage with patients and families when providing patient/family centered care. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Experience in mental health and older adult psychiatry required. Ability to work independently and as a member of the team. Ability to prioritize competing demands in a at times stressful environment.

Connect Care AMH Inpatient training completed. Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training preferred. I.V. certification and current Alaris pump training preferred.
