JOB DESCRIPTION

Working with definition, preliminary design and substantiation data, you will be responsible for sizing, finite element analysis (linear, non-linear and surface optimization) of metallic and/or composite structures for the development of aerospace structural components. You will perform feasibility studies and develop solutions adapted to customer requirements.
PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • At the pre-sizing stage, perform structure analysis using manual or computerized modeling techniques under the direction of the stress team leader.
  • At the substantiation stage, perform the tasks required to ensure compliance with design requirements (mechanical strength, stiffness, vibration, thermal, etc.) making the design production-ready.
  • At the certification stage, finalize the analysis based on the results of physical testing (static, fatigue, dynamics) and perform a final loads analysis that will be submitted for aircraft certification.
  •  Perform static, dynamic, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
  •  During the various project phases, write reports addressing analysis, certification and control of standard repairs.
  • Apply the analytical methods, standards and regulations applicable to the project; recommend substantiation methods. 
  • Take responsibility to define the geometric characteristics and the strength of the materials and of fasteners used.
  • You may be requested to manage and coach the project stress team and to validate its work (depending of the case).
  • Interfacing with the customer, being responsible of the deliverables and apply the rules and procedures on the project.

Requested skills

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft static, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
  • Proficiency in FEM software: PATRAN / NASTRAN, NASGRO, CATIA V5, Visual Basic for Applications, (VBA, Microsoft Office suite, MS Project) and any other relevant software.
  • Experience in Bombardier environment is an asset.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French and English.
  • Knowledge in Fatigue and DTA (Damage Tolerance Analysis) is an asset.
  • Ability to analyse and synthesize.
  • Ability to solve problems in an efficient and creative manner.
