Within the context of a client service culture and the policies and procedures of Vancouver Coastal Health reporting to the Manager or delegate provides extensive clinical and clerical medical office duties to support the smooth function of the Primary Health Care Clinic/Program.

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Clinical Assistant to join the Personal Support & Stabilization Plus team at the Robert & Lily Lee Family Community Health Centre in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team! As a Clinical Assistant you will provide extensive clinical and clerical medical office duties to support the smooth function of the Primary Health Care Clinic/Program.
Education & Experience
- Grade 12.
- Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant program, one (1) year of recent, related clinical medical office support experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Working knowledge of clinical policies, procedures and objectives.
- Working knowledge of community resources and agencies.
- Working knowledge of office procedures.
- Business writing skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to perform basic medical tests and accurately assess and record results in medical files.
- Ability to respond independently and effectively to emergent situation and effectively present health information to individuals.
- Ability to keyboard 5,000 keystrokes per hour.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain satisfactory work relationships with clients and staff.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with coworkers, clients and staff from other agencies.
- Demonstrated skill in using a variety of office equipment and computer software programs.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
