The Wireless Core Network Services DevOps team is at the forefront of driving strategy for the next generation of networks and technologies such as 5G, IoT, AI and Virtualization. This team gets involved with the nitty gritty of what the strategy is and how we can achieve it. Team members are often considered innovators as they develop and enhance network designs aimed at improving client service reliability for core mobility services. This team incorporates passion and technical prowess to be highly effective in their risk mitigation and delivery. Oftentimes being met by difficult decisions, they remain invested in what they do and believe in what they are creating for the future.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

As a Senior Design Specialist, you will help drive the software development for our core network infrastructure and services. Your creativity coupled with strong software development, automation, data science, and computer networking skills will allow us to find the most efficient ways of building and maintaining our API gateway platform to a variety of types of services from network capabilities to health services to support existing mobility infrastructure and offer new services.

You will exercise your entrepreneurial spirit and creative vision to change the way TELUS leverages technology. Collectively, the passion we have to transform the Network landscape will remain a leading factor in why customers continue to recognize TELUS as the fastest and most reliable network in Canada.

Here’s how

  • We want a Developer who can create new solutions while working as part of our existing Agile Development Team with a good focus on quality, automated testing, reliability

  • Develop quality solutions through adherence to coding standards and test automation

  • New Technology Implementation and Agile Development

  • Develop system APIs

  • Participate in creation of technical design documentation: Detail design & architecture documents

  • Participate in operational improvement initiatives, in conjunction with other technology teams in the company


You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

  • With a Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering

  • Valued for your 5+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Skilled in software development/software engineering, network systems & process automation using programming/scripting languages and DevOps tools such as Java, React, JavaScript, Python, Unix shell, Ansible, Jenkins, GitLAB, Splunk

  • Working in collaborative agile development teams, with experience working with CI/CD pipelines and activities

  • Known for your experience working on Linux operating systems and cloud computing platforms such as Red Hat, Open Stack, AWS and/or VMWare

  • Passionate about API design and data mining

  • With insight or understanding of 3G-5G core network technologies

  • Committed to building strong relationships with key stakeholders including senior management across the technology and partnering organizations

Great-to-have

  • Professional certifications: Red Hat (RHCE), Openstack (COA), and Routing & Switching
