Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent will have as main mission to ensure the proper functioning of activities related to the management, supplies and business development of the seed division.

You will be responsible for all activities related to seeds within the organization. This mean: you will have to make sure that our products meets the current and future standards of our organization while meeting the requirements of our valued customers. You will therefore be involved in all levels of management, supplies and business development of the seed division in strategy, research and development, as well as the daily activities of the department.

Specific responsibilities:

Operations

  • Act as operator within the framework of the seeds law and ensure compliance with standards and operating procedures for the packing station of our St-Hyacinthe plant
  • Ensure the conformity to the standards and the procedures of the operations of the packing station of our factory of St Hyacinthe
  • Be responsible for the Quality Assurance Program
  • Negotiate packaging rates with independent screeners
  • Ensure seed production from multiplier producers is in line with the seed production and marketing agreement
  • Update and follow up on specifications with our screening contractors

Supply

  • Establish and maintain business relationships with suppliers
  • Negotiate purchasing, territories and marketing agreements
  • Be on the lookout for new products and new suppliers

Business development

  • Establish the short and medium term needs of the company's seed portfolio
  • Ensure the sustainability and growth of the company's seed component
  • Establish and monitor budgets
  • Follow-up of sales and margins by product category
  • Establish price lists as well as sales programs and distribute it to our partners and collaborators
  • Ensure the administration of certain programs of our suppliers
  • With the assistance of the seed experts, design and plan the training of sales staff and distributors on the Synagri seed portfolio
  • Participate in various committees, events and conferences
  • Collaborate with the research and development team and the seed’s division for the evaluation of new genetics.
