As a Benefits Officer, you will be responsible for gathering information, conducting research, and making decisions regarding the fair application of the law and eligibility for benefits. You will communicate decisions to affected parties, taking into account case law, while working as part of a diverse and inclusive team.

If you qualify, here is what you could do:

  • Gather information from clients and employers in order to clarify grey areas related to Employment Insurance claims;
  • Render decisions based on your analysis of the facts, the law and the regulations to determine eligibility for benefits;
  • Explain the basis for decisions to the clients concerned and answer their questions while remaining impartial;
  • Participate in team meetings to exchange constructive ideas in order to continuously improve reference tools and procedures.

Essential qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma
  • Experience in serving clients or delivering programs to the public, including obtaining and communicating information that requires explanation or clarification.
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies and legislation.
