Role: HR Business Partner - Western Canada
Reports to: Director of Organizational Development & Labour Relations

- This role is responsible for aligning with business partners in Western Canada to identify the mix of human resource strategies that will drive improved results and build our high performance culture.
People manager for 1 Generalist supporting Western Canada.
Act as a strategic business partner, coach and consultant for all aspects of HR
Understand the business challenges and objectives of these departments/branches in order to drive a proactive approach to human resources and labour relations
Analyze people trends and issues in client groups and make recommendations for continuous improvement
Partner with Western VP, General Managers and people managers in business planning and organizational change issues
Work with client groups to identify, design and execute strategies that drive business results which may include succession planning, talent management, labour relations, performance management, team member engagement, recruitment and selection, delivering training and team-building
Provide expertise and guidance to support client groups in areas such as: labour relations, legal and procedural compliance, workplace policies, team member relations and problem prevention
Through knowledge transfer, increase the ability of business unit managers and teams to handle these issues independently
Provide day-to-day guidance to management on labour issues, manage grievances and participate in arbitrations
Manage various HR projects, programs and initiatives
Assist with collective bargaining as required through research, information gathering, costing and language drafting
Occasional travel to various branch locations
Skills, Abilities and Experience:
A leader: the incumbent will have the ability to think beyond the human resources function and contribute to the overall success of the business
Proven track record of building strong client relationships with all levels of management to improve business results
Developed knowledge in all HR fields and particularly in labour relations, team member relations, talent management, performance management, and attraction and selection
Thorough knowledge of employment and related legislation (e.g. Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Employment Equity legislation, etc.)
Highly organized self-starter with a demonstrated ability to multi-task priorities and assignments
Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills to deal effectively with multiple stakeholders
Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
- 5+ years of Human Resources Business Partner experience, ideally in a unionized environment
University degree and CHRL designation preferred
