About This Opportunity

Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH) is seeking family physicians to join the family medicine primary maternity care (PMC) group on a locum or part time basis. The Yarmouth PMC group is looking for locums to help fill our schedule over the coming months, especially July to October, 2022. The stipend is $1800/day for work done 8am-5pm, and extra billing for assessments or deliveries after hours. You can choose to work one day at a time, or several in a row. The group runs a shared prenatal clinic with nurse and clerical support, providing prenatal and obstetrical care for 300 - 350 women per year. The clinic disperses the patients throughout the week from Monday to Friday, shifts are divided among the group. There is always an obstetrician on call for consultations, and pediatricians are on call 20 days per month. Anesthesia and respiratory therapists coverage as well. NRP is required. If you are interested in working in our very collegial hospital we are happy to work around your availability.

The successful candidate will join a highly collegial and experienced group of physicians who are always available in an emergency. Family physicians may also participate in teaching through the family medicine residency program based in YRH, and/or with medical students through Dalhousie University.

YRH was originally founded in 1912 and has developed into a vast health care complex serving the 58,000 people of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby Counties.

Responsibilities
  • be accountable for appropriate workload and practice
  • provide care and coordination of community-based care and secondary and tertiary level heath care
  • operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority

Qualifications
  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
