Description

The Business Relationship and Compliance Manager works as the strategic interface with virtually all Medicago Departments for the purpose of business-IT strategy development, solution discovery, service management andrisk management. Business Relationship Managers proactively serve as a “trusted advisor,” and function as a key point of contact for IT business stakeholders. This role will provide high impact strategic consulting level support and guidance. To facilitate, and serve as a lead, for the planning and execution of initiatives to enable the company to achieve objectives through the effective use of technology. The role will also communicate decisions, priorities and relevant project information to appropriate levels of staff regarding service requests, projects and initiatives.

This position will also bring a complete understanding of the regulations guiding IT system validation. This will be a lead role in working with Quality Assurance and Validation .

Tasks/Responsibilities

As a strategic IT partner, this position will:

  • Builds strong reliable and sustainable relationships with customers to ensure that their current and future business plans and strategies are adequately reflected within IT strategies, development and operational plans.
  • Responsible for providing leadership and direction for key IT projects and services.
  • Responsible for overseeing the deployment of Global/Regional projects and programs in co-ordination with the appropriate IT teams.
  • Adheres to established System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Computer System Validation (CSV) procedures, where applicable, in identifying innovative solutions that meet the specified requirements and add value to the business.
  • Ensuring that the roles of the SME’s, Super Users and business owners are understood and fully leveraged to ensure successful IT delivery.
  • Responsible for managing the IT Work Initiation Process as it relates to approvals and prioritization of new work requests. Will actively participate in the IT Steering Committee partnering with Business Sponsors.
  • Assists with process modeling to clarify business requirements, and to enhance or re-engineer business processes, prior to, or in parallel with, solution design and implementation, as necessary.
  • Assists the business in understanding compliant data, data management and data privacy regulations associated with computerized business systems.
  • Review and approval of GMP documentation for computerized systems as required to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Assists in developing business case, ROI and project charter for new IT initiatives.
  • Supporting and participating (where applicable) in the project governance framework.
  • Participates in preparing the expense and capital budget for IT services to meet business unit needs in close collaboration with the Business Leadership and Finance team.
  • Reviews key performance indicators and service level agreements to ensure that IT is delivering on commitments and meeting or exceeding business needs.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for the delivery of IT services to the business, servicing as the primary customer advocate for the provision of IT services, a sensing mechanism and barometer of overall service quality.

Requested skills

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant engineering required.
  • 10 years’ experience with business systems analysis and architecture. Biotechnology and/or Pharmaceutical industry experience a plus.  Five plus years’ experience working as a Business Relationship Manager or comparable role.

Required Competencies:

  • Experience working in the biotech/pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity in working with validated systems and working within the Computer System Validation Framework.
  • Understands the industry - can bring industry best practice and future trends into the discussion. Uses this knowledge to ensure “best fit” solutions for Medicago.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of the technology systems development life cycle, computer systems validation, application development or systems integration.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to form effective relationships with the user community, IT colleagues and external vendors.
  • Experience facilitating change management involving business processes and organizational change.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language at all levels of the business.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • English Fluency (spoken\written) required, and French Fluency (spoken\written) a plus.
  • Experience developing documents for business requirements and process workflow diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of 21CFR part 11 and other regulatory requirements (e.g. Annex 11 and PIC/s).
  • Experience developing documentation to meet GxP requirements.
  • Superior judgment and analytical skills to make effective decisions leading to product/project success.
