Description
Join us as a Senior Software Asset Manager at Manulife and have a significant impact on how we coordinate and improve software investments. Here, you will champion compliance, mitigate risk, and uncover opportunities to reduce costs while developing strategies that align with our global mission. You will gain practical experience working with enterprise software portfolios and innovative SAM tools in a collaborative and encouraging environment.
Position Responsibilities- Own the full lifecycle of software assets-from procurement and deployment to renewal and retirement-with a focus on visibility and efficiency.
- Ensure license compliance and find opportunities for cost optimization and consolidation to improve value.
- Collaborate with procurement and legal teams to negotiate contracts and build strong, equitable vendor relationships.
- Lead configuration and maintenance of SAM tools (Flexera, ServiceNow, Snow Software) to enable smarter decision-making.
- Prepare for audits and proactively mitigate risks related to software usage and licensing.
- Deliver clear, actionable reports on software usage, compliance, and savings to senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven track record in software asset or IT asset management.
- Solid grasp of diverse software licensing models (SaaS, perpetual, subscription).
- Practical experience using SAM tools like Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow, USU, or similar platforms.
- Excellent documentation, analytical, and communication skills with an ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- ITIL, CSAM, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
- Knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, and other enterprise software titles.
- Experience managing global software portfolios in inclusive, multi-functional teams.
- Familiarity with cloud licensing models (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
- Strong vendor negotiation and contract management experience with a collaborative approach.
- Advanced reporting and analytics capabilities to support data-driven decisions.

Salary range is expected to be between
$86,250.00 CAD - $155,250.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
